Company Profile

Freight & Passenger Services Ltd was established   in 1957 as Mulla’s Transport Limited. When it was first incorporated, it acted as a general transport company with operations in both haulage and passenger transport. It was, in fact, the first Company in Zambia to enter into the haulage business. The Company was restructured under a new name as Freight & Passenger Services Ltd and incorporated in 1974. In 1980, the company decided to discontinue the passenger service to concentrate on haulage and other freight related activities. FPS is a pioneer in the transportation industry in Zambia.

FPS is a part of the Hazida group of companies. This group is diverse, with operation in  road transport and haulage; international freight forwarding and customs clearing; dealership in reputed electronic consumable brands such as Samsung, Whirlpool, Hisense; sole agent of Scania for the marketing of trucks, buses and spare parts, as well as the Mahindra and Renault brands.

The company is owned wholly by Zambian nationals. The directors and shareholders of the company are  Mr. Mussa Ismail Mulla and Mr. Ebrahim Ismail Mulla. All directors are actively involved in the day to day operations of all the companies.

This diverseness of the group enables it to have a strong base on which to draw financial and operational assistance as and when this may be required.  

Freight & Passenger Services Ltd - Present Scenario

Over the years, FPS has developed a guarded reputation of being reliable, efficient and above all responsible. FPS has a fleet of over 100 trucks which are relatively new. The fleet includes tri axle semi trailers, lowbed trailers, fuel tankers, crude oil tankers.Each truck has capacity to haul 30/ tonnes. The company head office is situated at Lusaka with offices in  Chirundu, Kitwe,Beira, and  in Johannesburg.

FPS transport valuable and essential commodities such as maize, fertilizers, copper, cotton and various finished products, abnormal equipments throughout Zambia and the region. With offices in various border points and in Copperbelt and in Johannesburg, South Africa and Beira, Mozambique, FPS has taken a leadership role in setting up a transportation network throughout the country and the region. FPS is currently operating to and from Johannesburg, Harare, Beira, Lilongwe,Blantyre, Gaborone/Francis Town  and to various  other destinations in Southern African countries in addition to all local destinations within Zambia.
